On June 6, New Cities help an event titled, “New Housing Solutions: Innovations for Affordability, Community and Health”. Nesterly’s Founder & CEO was invited to speak on a panel on the two distinct demographics shaping housing today: More people than ever are living alone, and more people than ever are living as extended families. The panel discussed the question; how can design and policy address the needs of these demographics through alternative types of housing?

Access Ventures, a Louisville nonprofit, has selected six organizations to help it address a nationwide affordable housing shortage.

The organizations were selected as part of what Access Ventures dubbed the Reconstruct Challenge, a $3 million national prize competition which sought innovative ideas to address the shortage. The six organization will be awarded with $300,000 each and access to an executive education course.

Sponsored by AARP, the summit discussed the future of aging including the longevity economy, the future of community, how retirement might change in the coming years, transportation and senior health.
